Has anybody ever heard of a 2ltr car breaking 200mph. I seem to remember Norris designs getting 800bhp from an Evo, that went on to implode on Top Gear, but I've never heard of 2ltrs cracking 200mph, not counting old school F1 cars.

Perfectly possible but I can't imagine why you'd bother. Why not just use a bigger engine?

Plenty of Cosworth and Evo cars have claimed that they have made it. Plenty of Evo tuners have claimed 1000bhp.

A turbo hayabusa bike will manage to top that.

With enough money I'm sure you could, I've just never seen it confirmed anywhere.

AFAIK know there's these for sure.

Rods Tarry's white Saphire Cosworth
Simon Norris's EVO
The Fensport Corolla
Martin Hadland and the Reyland Escort Cosworth

Its a simple fact of having the willingness to plough enough money inta a car.

3 rotor RX7 have done it I think....and that should be just under the 2 litre limit.

Wasnt the Norris evo stroked to a 2.3 or similar though and not a 2 ltr ?

Just searched... 2.3 in the one car and 2.24 in the other

You haven't specified a distance.. with a slippery body and the right gearing, you could do it quite easily..

Broad brush - I think I'm right in saying a typical sports car needs something over 500 bhp to reach 200 mph. With forced induction a 2 litre should be able to manage that even if the engine's life is rather limited!

Err... yes! By quite a margin as well.

255mph with a 1.5 litre and 1950's technology.
