Rev counter stays at 1k revs when the engine is switched off
Discussion
I wonder if any of you folks can shed a bit of light on a new problem I have created ! I have just replaced the distributor on my small block Chevy powered kit and now the rev counter stays at about 1000 revs when I switch off the engine - what glaringly obvious mistake have I made this time ?!
Many instruments are now like a servo driven pointer. If you remove the supply voltage the needle stays where it was.
If the ignition signal disappears before the tacho supply the needle will drop to zero. If the tacho supply disappears before the ignition signal the tacho needle will probably stay at the last position it was in.

As has been said many instruments do this my Stack dash included.
As has also been said it may just be that your new ignition system may just hold a voltage for a shorter, or longer, time than before.
Bottom line is that if the counter is giving the correct reading then don't worry.
