First of all hi all this is my first post on these Forums.

I have been trying to sell my 56 plate Clio for a few weeks with no joy so was thinking of using a lottery bonus ball idea i used a few years back to sell a old car i sold the numbers for £10 to sell an old Mazda 323 and sold all 49 numbers and some one ended up with a car for a £10 while i got £490 for the car . Well i am thinking about doing the same with this car but the Numbers will be selling at £100 so in total £4900 will be made this way the plan is to set a date for everyone to be aware of and sell numbers through E-bay Piston heads Gumtree etc and have a pop round local car dealers.

I understand it was not that great of a gamble with the mazda as it was only £10 a number. but with this Clio being set at £100 a number do you guys think this would be easy enough to sell all 49 numbers?

any replys would be a great help cheers

Stephen

Welcome!
Not too sure for £100 a pop, that's more than they charge for these 'best of the best' things at airports.
I'd imagine you may have more luck trying to sell more tickets for less, £100 is a lot to 'maybe' win a clio TBH, even if the odds are better.

Just my 2p!

You'd be better trying to shift 490 tickets at a tenner a pop.

I wouldn't go for it but I'm sure there must be a few folk that would, maybe even 490

For the amount of time that it will take you to sell all the tickets (and I think you would have to go for 490 @£10) You would be better off just taking a few hundred quid of the car. I'm sure there are lottery/tax rules behind this well! That is why BotB changed from a raffle to a spot the ball competition.

would never work at £100 a ticket for a 2nd hand clio.

Just to point out Stephen, raffling a car like this is actually illegal, it's against UK gambling laws, this is why best of the best need to have a spot the ball competition. An element of skill is required.

Not sure they'd come after you for this but something to bear in mind.

John.

thanks for the reply guys. i thought that it would work the car is only 3 and a half years old done 24,800 miles had full service history i know its a gamble for 49 people to take but one person is gonna get themselves a huge bargin.

but... in reality it is a 'cheap' everyday car. Will people wanting such a car be willing to risk £100 to get it?

I sometimes buy 3 go's at Best of Best - but thats for a 'dream' car and only £40'ish for 3 attempts. I know the odds are not as good but the prize is much better.
