Exactly that question:-

"How long do points stay on your licence for?", for some reason I was under the impression it was 2 years, but just had a quick look on the DVLA site and it appears to be 4 years, is this right? Was looking forward to having them taken off but now it looks like its gonna be another 2 years!

Stays on licence for 4 years. Counts under totting up rules for 3 years.

Points are valid for 3 years and you can have them removed after 4 years.

Though I've always wondered how they'd find out once they weren't on your licence any more - I assume the Data Protection Act prevents them simply asking the DVLA?

Then change insurance companies. Lentilists are refusing to be supplied by nasty corporates. Therefore there are letilist sympathysers like Direct line. It is up to us to fight back by boycotting these stalinist abusers.

Is this from date of offence or date of conviction?

Normally date of offence, unless matter is dealt with via a court in which case it is the date of the conviction. (er and no you can't get around the 3 year totting up rule, by opting to go to court and thus delaying the conviction date outside of the 3 years.)

I'm guessing your points did not involve a personal appearance at the magistrates court. Hence column left blank. (amateur!!!)

Bugger, as the the date of offence is nearly 8 months prior to conviction, (Magistrates court)
