Oh my God, help! Missus and I are moving out of a flat this weekend and the silly bint has only gone and spilled, what looks to be, a pint's worth of candle wax on the carpet in the front room.

So, my question is; any idea's how to get it out?

Is greaseproof and won't absorb anything surely? Brown paper FTW*

Brown paper & an iron, works a treat - get as much off as you can with a blunt knife (dont cut the carpet obviously) can take a while and you'll need several sheets of brown paper

I came home and found the missus and neighbour's naked, covered in wax and praying to Shiva while sacrificing the dog frown

So, how do I do this greaseproof paper thing?

Edit; so what, put the paper on the stain and iron it?

Yep - not too hot though. It melts the wax, then the paper absorbs it.

Its brown paper

put it on top of the stain, iron over it and you'll see the wax being absorbed into the paper - repeat until it stops/you cant see a stain

Iron and brown paper.

OR

Kitchen roll!

I used kitchen roll when one of my teenage parties went awry and it worked a treat. Try to flex the wax as much as you can and scrape it off first. Then lay two sheets of kitchen roll on top of the wax and iron, remove and use fresh paper each time. The spot of wax will shrink with each ironing until it is gone!

I read that a poultice of red wine, curry sauce and dog turd will lift ANY stain out of carpet. You really need to cover the area and the surrounding 2 feet to make sure you soak the stain up and really really work it in to the carpet. Let it set for a minimum of 24 hours and it should all just lift out in one go.

Pour boiling water from a kettle carefully over the wax, and soak the melted liquid up with some old towels quickly before it solidifies......

Keap repeating till the wax has all gone
