hi there, could anyone tell me if what the difference is between a long wheel base and a short one, apart from the obvious? is either one more desireable than the other one? cheers andy

Horses for courses, really.

LWBs tend to carry a premium as they were among the last built as much as anything. I've one of each and the standard is definitely a better looking car and more desirable to me.

I think the LWB only comes in a certain (high) spec model (Vogue LSE or something like that).

Only LSE,s were 4.2 with a very limited circa(30)normal wheel base models in autobiography spec.

Nothing I have read suggests that there was anything other than one spec (almost everything) and the 4.2 engine for the LSE. No doubt there was an options list but I can't imagine it was very long.
Someone here bought an autobiography SWB recently with a 4.2 - looked lovely but I'd still rather have the LSE. A blue one sold on ebay only last week too.
Other SWB were still 3.9 as has been said.
