if you think the sixaxis controoler was the first motion controller, was shown off at e30 in 3005 and made before that,

Nope, it was attempted YEARS ago, company bought out a similar device on the Atari 2600 in the 80's. Nintendo also did the Power Glove back in the 90's, something very similar.

Both Sony and MS are just trying to get a slice of family/casual market that the Wii dominates. "Natal" is supposed to be very impressive though - and doesn't require hand-held controllers like Sony or Nintendo's setup.

I hope not. Keep all this dancing around on one format please.

I'm one of the gamers who would rather sit on the sofa with a simple joypad and relax.

I know but as the kids and women start buying them then they'll concentrate on that type of technology and games which means us retro gamers will lose out (eventually) frown

if you are a retro gamer, you won't be interested in the new stuff anyway, surely? hehe

natal, wii, ps3 motion will all die out imo. its just never been successfully carried out and just becomes a gimmick. Theres a reason control pads have been around for so long and previous motion control attempts have failed. 3d will go the same way imo.

this ps3 gadget is different and nobody seems to have pointed it out yet.

The wii controller responds to movement, no movement no input.

The "move" or whatever the hell it is called is constantly tracked by the ps3, it knows which way up it is how you are holding it, it knows if you twist it in your hand. Coupled with the eyetoy device that can track you and you have something quite different. The thought is that it is so accurate that golfers would be able to use it as a trainer.

Motion control doesn't interest me as there is normally no feedback so lack immersionm, especially the wii where I felt like I was experiencing constant lag to my inputs.

I hear that Natal is useless and devs hate trying to make it work. I hear it is very hit and miss and that the first successful thing is a demo where you try to befriend a 10yr old boy, apparently it just feels as though you're the boy's bad uncle and are trying to molest him!

It's not my cup of tea either. I personally don't see the appeal (at all) for motion control of any form, but that said, it's good to see adult games being tried and tested.
