Long shot - MacBook Snow Leopard Movies
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm doing a project for uni at the moment which involves making a documentary-esque programme.
I'm looking to use iMovie as a movie editing suite, as it's all I have and I'm not really wishing to buy another suite for the sake of one project.
However, the camera I'm using to record uses a .MOD file format. My Mac doesn't read these and I've been snooping online looking for what to do.
Obviously, there's recommended file converters, which change the .MOD files to MPEG-2 files. The one I have is MPEG Streamclip. I need to purchase some sort of add-on to Quicktime to see these clips though. My question is - once the files are converted to MPEGs can I play these and edit them in iMovie?
Thanks,
Iain

Before you start messing with the video files, I'd try importing some video directly into iMovie from the camera.
This tutorial tells you how to do it:

C'mon guys, by know I thought everyone would know that the answers to any question about video formats is VLC or Handbrake. Both can transcode and VLC plays back damn near everything.
VLC transcodes?
I have 1.0.3 on Snow Leopard here : File -> Streaming/Exporting Wizard gives a transcode option.marshalla said:
