Money chaning in Australia, Bali and Kuala Lumpur

Hi all

I'm going to the above locations later on in the year and was wondering if it's best to pre-order currency here of over there. KL is literally one night and one day so if it's not worth it then I'll pre-order so I'm prepared but Oz and Bali are for longer.

Also, in KL is there anywhere good to get electrical gadgets and cheap designer clothes?

Check to see if your bank gives free cash withdrawals and simply use ATMs whilst over there.

If you want some spends for when you land just get a few quids worth of currency at the airport - to cover for taxi etc from airport.

KL is loaded with shopping malls that say everything you can imagine. You need to haggle for a good price.

Head to KL Chinatown for any fakes. Great food there too.

If you're only there for a night I'd get money before you go, my bank charged me about £7 every time I used a cash point.

I don't remember Bali having much fake stuff. Loads of cash machines in all the tourist areas though.

In KL you can change monmey at any Licenced Money Changers, at published rate, and they are on every street corner in the tourist area, what electrics do you want? Computor/Telcom/Vidio,Photo stuff is at Ibmi Plaza, or Lau Yat Plaze, both in Bukit Bingtang, if time is limited these are the bbest places only 50M apart.China Town or Majid India for fakes, Majid India is Cheaper.

When I went to Australia last year, I changed my money at the post office before I went out there. If I remember rightly, they don't charge commission and you can change back any money that you have left when you get back (notes only though).

Travelex are pretty good for getting foreign money. You preorder over the net and then pick up at the airport, saves a bit of hassle.

Usually the best rates too.

Most Australian banks are part of certain international networks - if you are with Barclays or BNP Paribas or one or two others for instance you can withdraw AUD from your card with no fees.

I would just suggest using local ATM's, its what i do, unless you are going to change up a lot of currency then use a money changer and see if you can negotiate (in singapore most of the money changers around raffles place will negotiate rates if you are changing up several thousand worth of sterling for example.)
