Got a call yesterday and was asked if I could be available to go away on Monday till Sunday. They seemed surprised that I would be, no problem.
Job in Dubai, big music thing with Elton John and Santana for the opening of some new horse racing place.
Put the phone down thinking that it must be guaranteed as I must of been the only cameraman of that group who had no work next week so no problem with going away. The others would be dropping work left right and centre.
Even started thinking about packing and looking for my passport plus the thought of over £2K to save the month and my bacon.
Got a text, the cowards, saying that they were not going to use as many cameras as first thought, so thanks and fek off!!
Felt bad about lack of work but this is worse.
Rant over.

That's video for you. I once got as far as Brunei on a similar wingding but it all went phut eventually.
One year I had a customer who wanted a big corporate video but wasn't ready to start, but needed to spend some money before the year end. So we agreed that I could invoice him £10,000 before Christmas, and use it towards the production in the spring. So I raised an invoice for £10,000 and thought 'that's a good end to the year!' (which had been very quiet). A week or two later he rang me to say the project had been cancelled. Thanks mate.
