Trackdays near essex (airfield days)
Discussion
Hi,
Im an old hand at tuning/modifiying but as yet i havent gone the 'legal' route for racing. As im now a bit more grown up and left my street racing days well behind me i have decided to get a little trackcar project on the go so now im after some airfield days to try it out...
I live in north essex (colchester) and am looking for places near here. The car is fully MOT'd so no problem getting it anywhere but i dont want to be travelling for hours each direction
So whats on round these parts??
Cheers

Well, even for a seasoned pro the car limits days are a good laugh as you can arse around to your hearts content on a couple of acres of deserted tarmac. The activity days cost less than a good night out too.
If that's not your thing there's always Brands Hatch - that's probably the closest circuit to Essex. Bedford Autodrome is probably next closest.

idealy after open pit days. I didnt mention before but i have done quite alot of oval stuff at arena essex and a few other places aswell as tons of karting so i have got a fair clue, couldnt do 1 on 1 off day, i want to have a bit more freedom...
cheers anyway...
Bedford autodrome is easily reachable. Some good trackday companies do open pitlane there (Bookatrack did for sure last time I went).cheers anyway...
Note they were quite hot on noise limits when I went, although my 993 with RSRs was ok.
Agree Woodbridge is your best option, for locality and an open pit-lane airfield it fits the bill. There's a day with Javelin coming up next Saturday 27th.
We did our first one up there last August and great fun with plenty of run-off and a good team organising.
Just watch out for the landing lights...

Forget airfields. From my experience, the tarmac is usually crap, and the circuits are flat and boring. The psychological endless runoff is actually normally some of the roughest grassland around, with many decades of rubbish, concrete and lumps hidden in it - You would not want to go off into it!!! Just my opinion, or course, as many people like them, especially from a value for money point of view.
From where you are, then you are blessed with being in easy striking distance of Brands Hatch - my personal favourite UK track destination.
