......is apparently the most satisfying Porsche to drive EVER made , after the new Carrera GT.

This is the result of the US Porsche magazine , Excellence. They interviewed 10 leading Porsche luminaries including Walter Rhorl, go them to score the cars, and then add em up. Carrera GT won, followed by the RS 3.8.

The 993 RS 3.8 just shaded the 2004 GT3 and the 2.7RS.

Now I really, really, really REALLY want one !

Guess they are a solid buy nowadays.

And unlikely to fall in value. Bugger

They are not too bad, certainly not the fastest car and only after a period of ownership do you appreciate the level of over engineering.
I can understand why those willing to spend the ackers modify them to get extra bhp.The existing suspension and running gear is well up to the job.

last year the 993 RS came second to the mclaren f1 as Autocars best drivers car ever.

Again in an Autocar test of both GT3 & Gt3 RS they benchmarked to the 993 RS , deciding the new guys did not quite cut it...don't quite get that myself particularly on a run to waitrose or the gym

Tell you what, why not get a 993RS CS & stick a 400bhp normally aspirated engine in the back? Surely then you would be onto the ultimate driver's Porsche?

Hmmmm, I wonder who could do that for me?

I thought the ultimate was a nice red 993rs C1RSL!
Walter is my hero of all drivers, and as normal he is spot on.
It will be interesting to see a 996rs upagainst my car,as the heavy weight 996 will have some work to do.After all my car now only weighs 1120 kilos +how ever many horses.
But i do have two say the 996 rs is the only 996 i have ever given a second consideration.Does look nice!

I still have the order form for the carrera GT,there is something missing with this new car, fantastic engineering, but not sure on the charachter /looks front. Its also £150k overpriced, after all it is mass produced car. They have also not sold all the cars yet either,Peter Lovett from Dick Lovett cars has cancelled his order for the GT, along with a few others.I will see what they are like after they have depreciated like a 996 may be? Now there is a question, time will tell.
