Server/Rack install advice
Discussion
I have just purchased a new dell server which includes the dell rapid rails ( 4 post)
All was going well on the install until i tried to stick the rails in the cabinet.. The rear posts of the rack are not in the correct place. I am to short on the depth by 4cm. I can move the rear posts back by another 1.5 cm so i am still a little short on depth.
Foolish me that i assumed that the Rails would be the same depth for the cabinet, as i already have a older generation Dell server installed.
Are there any spacers i can add in to increase the depth to the required level?
I dont really fancy spending £120 for a univaersal rack kit from Dell.
Thanks

I have a feeling that the dell rails aren't compatible with non dell racks too, but not sure on this.
can be an absolute pig to get kit in sometimes!I would try Ebay or websites like www.comms-express.com, you might be abale to bodge somthing that is secure using cheaper bits
adapter brackets but not cheap

Something in this section might help though

Any chance you could move the front racks as well to get the depth required?
I have looked but it looks like the adjustment is at is maximum depth. I will have a look though... Thanks

Hell just occured to me. All you need is two metal plates with rounded edges (to prevent you catching yourself on a carner and cutting yourself open) the right length and width to screw into the verts in the cab and that the server can then be bolted to. Take all measurements and call a couple of local metal fabricators and ask if they could knock two up for you.
