Practical classics?
Discussion
I've finally dispensed with the daily commute, and I was hoping to trade my dull car in for something more interesting. However, as I won't be putting so many miles on it, it also occurred to me that I might be able to find something that won't depreciate. Especially as I'm not technically earning any money at the mo.
With up to about 12k to play with, I've been thinking of old 911s, TR6s, Elises, Elans, knackered old Datsun Zs etc, but I can't decide. Can anyone out there help me with some other suggestions for cool cars that I could get my cash back on should I need to?
Cheers

Yes. Whatever is currently worth 16k top whack. Buy that for 12.Otherwise, you'll have to do what classic car lovers all do, which is buy what they like, and bugger what it costs to own, or what anyone else says about it.

For that sort of dosh you could get a really well restored Volvo P1800/1800S. Lovely looking cars and can be used daily without fear of breaking down. Had one as a daily driver for a few years and loved it.

You havent said what you really need from the car, do you need to transport kids, pets, flatpack furniture etc?
If I had that money then I'd probably be looking at a TR6, a Stag, a 944, 928 or possibly a 911sc or thereabouts.
Classic insurance, all have a certain 'something' about them, and they are NOT a run of the mill reps car.
Happy shopping!
