Hello again.
Some of you will note that I've been mulling this over for some while
Assuming I have a base some 30km distant from Le Mans, how easy would it to be to drive in and out of town on a Friday and Saturday/Sunday [early morning] ? I'm thinking of using normal site car parking.
Experiences and thoughts gratefully received.

Friday is usually a very quiet day at the circuit, most people already there will head out of the circuit, usually to explore, shop for food or visit the GBW at St Satarin. All the roads are open however Saturday is a very different matter, roads closed huge influx of people and cars parked everywhere causing massive delays and problems.
Saturday morning, Saturday night and Sunday after the race are the bad times in my experience. How long will also depend on which circuit car park you are booked in and what direction to/from Le Mans you are based at. It might be best to drive to a tram terminal and catch that to the circuit rather than come in with Les Hoards !

I "commute" every year and as previously mentioned location is important.It realy matters what direction you are heading out on as to which parking area you choose.
Trying to drive around on Sat night can be a nightmare and an early start Sat morning is essential.
If you are a "virgin" you need to see nightime racing so you could just hang around later saturday night then just back to digs for wash and brush up.
After a few hours kip back early on Sunday to catch the end then in no hurry to leave with the masses straight after race.
I assume you are staying over Sunday night so nicely refreshed for Monday return home.
I must admit that having been attending and camping for many years the last few with proper beds and bathroom away from the track have left me feeling a lot more human at the end of a great weekend.
God I must be getting old.

I'm not aware of any car parking at the circuit where you can just turn up and pay. I thought it was all pre booked. So, pre booking is the way, although I'm not sure where you can do just this...via ACO maybe? Have a look at the circuit map on the ACO's website so you can decide which car park to go for.

Sorry, just want to understand where your coming from, If Ive got this right you will be staying somewhere south west of the track, which You have already booked? So what your asking is can you just drive up to the circuit park and watch the race?

As for driving in and out of town, its very hard to get into town for the drivers parade on the Friday afternoon/early evening. My old car overheated in traffic and caught fire a few years back

grab a load of members mobile numbers and find out if anyone has room to pitch a tent next to theres for the saturday night and so then you get to stay near the track or stay under someones gazebo you wont want to travel back to your base saturday night just snatch some sleep for an hour on site and get back to it! (ps the last two times Ive been on blue sud i could have squeezed another small tent next to mine for the time i was there!
We always camp on Houx, Friday watch the drivers parade but on Saturday morning convoy out to the Mulsanne straight to watch the start, stay for about 5 hours, back to camp, bite to eat, few beers, fun fair to watch the race from the Ferris wheel, then more beers and hang around until 4am to watch the cars going through Dunlop in order to catch the burning brake pads, bed about 6am, up at 9, break camp, continue watching the race to the end, invade track, back to campsite for last minute checks, leave at 8pm and blatt back to Calais, awesome and already have it all planned for this year, cant wait!!!
I'll have a general admission ticket and pitch on Houx Annexe available from first thing Friday morning if thats of interest. We arent able to stay for the main event so pitching up for the practise and quali sessions on Wed/Thursday instead.

As I'm not sure how easy it will be to get out of Le Mans at say 1.00am Sunday morning I think I will best off getting parking outside of the track. Currently Blanc appears a reasonable bet.
So chaps, what the best way of getting a car park space at Blanc at such a late date ? To add to the complications I can't speak French.

ACO Website, click the little English flag, and all will be translated Billets = Tickets. Or Google Le mans tourist board, There is a link to English speaking staff, or if you don't fancy any of that Buy a car park ticket from any of the ticket agencies on here. First Tickets, Just Tickets Etc......
