I'm wondering about the potential issues of having differing pad compounds in one's front and rear brakes.

I currently have Ferodo DS2500 front pads (which I like), and EBC redstuff (which I don't like) on the rear.

The front discs are vented, the rears are solid (I'm thinking this may have an impact with heat generation/dissipation).

Whats the general opinion on these things? - same compound all round, or not?

can't see reason why you shouldn't have differing pad materials except that you don't want the fronts fading well before the rears.similar concept to changing disc sizes front to rear i suppose.

i think different compounds are pretty much the norm, i know for some vehicles, the fancy pads are only done in sizes that fit the fronts.

You'd have to be sure that the CoFs were similar across the temperature range.
If there were any chance that they weren't, you'd want to do a bit of testing to check that the balance was still okay.
