Hi i own a 1.4 ford focus mk1 2001. And just recently i have noticed a slight rattle from the engine when you rev it in neutral but only just before the revs are on their way back down to tick over.
If anyone has any ideas on what it could be and how much it could cost it would be much apprieciated please help Thanks.

Likely to be gearbox idler gear chatter. If you put your foot on the clutch it should go away, if not I've got it wrong and it's something else...

If it's the gearbox it's not a fault, just a sign of a bit of age IMO.

Regards,
Andy

Thanks mate. I went to my local garage yesterday afternoon, and they told me it was nothing to worry about, but thank you for your input and it is much appreciated. smile
