Turns out that PH has it's very own brake expert. Just aswell really, as he seems to have cracked the mystery of squealing brakes.

Have a read.

So, he's not so much a technician of VAG but more the definition of VADGE?

I like it.

lol classic! I have to say that ranks well up with a problem i had a few years back on our a6 tdi...

Started to have a small drink problem managing to ingest the contents of the header tank every 200ish miles on a long run (typically on a days worth of driving from hants to the French alps) Took it to Audi on 3 separate occasions to get them to report back, each time they confirmed happily there was no leak and everything was ok. Anyway on the 3rd visit the 'Master Tech' told me not to worry, they had located the leak and that it would just require a new turbo as the seal had failed and the coolant was leaking out the housing and being burnt off that way...apparently why i could smell it in the exhaust.

He was slightly non-plused when i informed him that interestingly the a6 tdi is not water or oil cooled so his theory was a bit wayward!!!!

Anyway, when I did finally take it to a trusted independent, we found best part of 2.5k's worth of rebuild cost due to the failur of a water channel in the head sucking so much coolant through it had erroded to such an extent it was almost impossible to get it machined flat again and find a set of gaskets thick enough to make up the depth removed.
