How does your spin over?

Whe I start the Tuscan (from cold or hot), the engine lurches over one turn as if fighting compression, pauses for a second and then starts to spin faster and then starts. It always does start on the first turn of the key even after several weeks without being used, but doesn't inspire confidence.
Everything else electrical works perfectly, and the voltmeter on the POD says 13.7V when running.
So the question is whether this is quite normal, or whether everyone elses spins freely and my battery is in need of replacement? Or is it something worse
Obviously, with the English summer coming, I'll need to be able rely upon lights and wipers as well.

I will probably be corrected on this but I think the ECU is programmed to turn the engine over once or twice to start the oil circulating before it then sets off fuel and spark.
On my fourth speed six and they have all done it so I dont give it a second thought

I known that the ECU delays start, it's more case of how the engine spins on the starter as mine seems quite lethargic (which was the word I couldn't remember last night - terrible thing, old age).On my fourth speed six and they have all done it so I dont give it a second thought
