a new problem

Hi guys, anyone got any ideas on my new problem. Took the cerb out for a spin round the block to see how it was running (i just fitted new coil packs, throttle pots, leads, plugs and map sensor) only got a couple of minutes away and the ignition lights flickered on and off very quickly then 10 seconds later all off like someone had turned the ignition off. Thats how it is now sitting at the side of the road waiting for a low loader if i press the ignition on button i get nothing no lights on ,zip, zero, sweet f all. all other electrics work? any ideas chaps always grateful

have u tried the ignition key switch thing by the ash tray?

just got it back in the garage still no ignition lights sometimes my car fixes it self :/ will try again in the morning as i have no idea where to start with this one

Sounds like a bad or loose connection somewhere. maybe related to the work you've just done, or just a coincidence that an earth wire has decided to disconnect itself ??

Bad earth connection for sure. Check behind pas side front wheel arch on the chasis member.
You'll see some cables secured with s bolt to the chasis, sounds like it's loose.

I got rid of the original alarm, but would I be right in saying, it has two relays on it.

One to cut the ignition & one to cut the fuel pump ?

checked that earth point and it seems ok not loose or anything, could this have something to do with the ignition control box in the boot tried testing that for any live wires and there is nothing live on the plug

fixed it checked some wiring diagrams and found a lead had fell off the back off the fuse board just happend to be the ignition power lead :/
