Hi all

My 2 week old new Elise has developed another problem. Just the other day I noticed that it never had as much accelration around the 2.5 - 3K revs as it did previous. I am only just getting over the 600 mile mark and pushing it up to 4.5K but it definately feels like the power is not coming through.

Also, in 5th gear, around 3.5K revs the engine noise kind of deepens....this normal?

Its going back to the garage on Saturday to get other stuff fixed.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Just a quick question, aren't you supposed to be still running it in and therefore keeping the engine running under 3000rpm?

Yes I have done - I have done approx 750 miles now. Never went over the 3K mark for the first 600 miles. I've been very careful ( honest! )

I'd be very interested to hear what problems/build quality niggles S2 owners have had. Mine has had a few, and they are starting to get on my nerves!

My complete list ( car is 3 weeks old )

1 - speedo reads double as does odometer
2 - engine is lacking power somehow...just not getting the same acceleration as previous
3 - doors locks are sticking....one day took at least 10 mins to get in car
4 - central barrel of fuel lock 'comes away' when removing the key
5 - roof leaks a little

Pretty disgraceful if you ask me. I am willing to put up with some initial problems but there are too many serious things on that list to not be pissed off.

Its going in for its first service on Saturday but they tell me they may not have time to fix everything else and that I will have to bring it back later again! What an attitude!
