Looking to put a nice corner whirlpool bath in, and wondered if anyone has experience with these?

More specifically, what is the quality difference between some of the cheaper (and more bling) baths on ebay, vs the UK made ones that are simpler but seem superior?

Bling ebay bath

Normal

Cheers!

There was one fitted in our old house. Unfortunately, the previous owner had not realised that the hot water tank was not big enough to fill the bath, so we had to use one load of water to fill it about a third, and then wait for the boilier to fill the tank once again so that the bath could get a decent amount of water in it. (Problem not so bad if you like sharing baths though wink )

I have something similar in an en-suite guest bathroom. It was already in place when I moved here and I have to confess that the novelty of using it wore off very quickly. Probably gets used 2-3 times / year and nothing has actually ever gone wrong with it but having experienced it, it isn't something I would go out and buy again.

I can vouch for Airbaths, best home gadget we've ever bought.

It relies on forced air via air jets on the base of the bath (the newer models also incorporate water jets if you want), rather than just jetting water around.

The variable heater and pulse is very good an maintains the temp of the water for ages.

We bought the Tonga (oval style) and built a solid wood frame which we tiled around and then sunk the bath into.

It also has an auto cleaner, which empties the jets and cleans itself after you've finished, so as to avoid limescale build up and odd stale water smells.

You can make some serious bubble baths for the kids biggrin

We have a "Bling" Shower cubicle/Steam Room. It's a pain. It's on it's third Steam generator and the door runners needed replacing within a year. As a Shower it's pretty good but it's a bit fragile and supposedly the Generator stops working if you don't use it often enough.

The jacuzzi brandedstuff is decent quality but you pay for it, and their dealers can be sporadic in their customer service. We had one in the last house, it worked fine for 5 year til we moved after a small teething issue on commmision, but we had some problems with the order being incorrect, and in the end, despite efforts to correct it, we ended up having to take a slightly different (worse) spec bath than ordered.

I'm fitting one now in new hosue , but have bought a far cheaper Carron whirlpool and it seems very well made indeed. whether it is a reliabel we will see.

Oh and try them out. We were after a corner one initally, but having actually sat in them, a huge bath can be quite small inside. So we ended up with a 1800 x 800 straight bath, that was brilliant. But we did need a new biggger tank fitted to be able to supply it.
