Grinnders, was that you I saw tonight at about 17:00 hours being squeezed by a car with a non-existant gap in front of you!

Hello. Yeah I thought I was quite restrained. I'd already passed the tw*t who had both front and rear fog lights on. I'd tried to draw his attention to it by flashing my rear off and on in my previous passing manouevre, but the muppet didn't realise or didn't care. After all it wasn't foggy just drizzly.

Anyway I saw him coming up on the outside and TBH I do that myself sometimes, so I can't be a hypocrite and try to block him out. If it's good for the goose... What annoys me are those that cut in then try to stop others doing the same.

So I did shine my mains right into his rear view mirror and tried to mouth "Fog" when I went past at LV= but of course he could have lip read that another way. LOL

What were you in?

Grinnders, I was in a Lotus Elise SC Type 25. Nice in white your Exige, at least you get noticed now rather than being in one of those common Porky things. Are you coming to the Westover Track Day at Castle Coombe on the 15th June? What was the major break down on your Porsche you have listed on the costs?

Well I've currently got tickets to Aerosmith at the O2 on that day... but without a wing man will probably sell them on. I am getting insurance for track days on my renewal policy, never had it on the Porker, good job too though as apparently you go through a rear set of tyres @ £640 a pop ! yikes

I certainly do....

I'm contemplating an exhaust change but 2bulars seem to be around 105dB which is 7 too much for Goodwood most days.

Jim makes a quiet 2bular if you want it. Mine is the trackday-friendly one, and pretty much guaranteed to pass any trackday in the UK including Bedford (according to Jim) - but if I mess about with anything else on the engine then it may creep over 95dB. Not a problem for me as I don't tend to do Bedford, Brands is my local circuit and they usually run 98dB days which the 2bular easily passes.

Interesting.

Bedfords 105dB so I was a bit worried when he said that it met that regulation on his wesbite that its not low enough for my "local".

Goodwood does 105dBs but less cars per session so more ££££s. Generally they're 98dB which is relatively tight for many cars.

I know 2bulars are about half the weight of factory fit, but most buy for the sound, and if the sound prevents me tracking, then it's an own goal for my requirements. Each to their own of course.

Bedford isn't 105db.... its 98db (like a standard day at Goodwood) on the static IIRC and its pretty much the most stringent track in the country on drive-by, which is where the majority of Bedford noise meter trips have happened, resulting in people getting sent home.

Most other major circuits run days at 102-105db static... including Brands, Snett, Silverstone, Oulton and Cadwell and if you buy one of Jim's larger diameter silencers you should be comfortably inside those, plus as implied above, the Bedford 98db limit. One thing you need to bear in mind also is the degree to which induction (particularly) adds to your noise issues - there's a few very noisy inductions out there.

So the upshot - 2bular 8 inch silencer is good for trackdays.. 2bular 6 inch silencer isn't.

Calvin only managed 3 laps of Goodwood in his type 25 before been thrown off, not bad only £30 a lap, He only just fitted his stage 2 exhaust. smash he was warned.

You only need to lose another 163 kg to be the same weight as a far superior S1. laugh

Calvin dear boy, do you know where they are, given the speed I shot past you at Goodwood (video evidence remember) yours might well be loose or even missing driving
