Right you lot, lets get these back on track now winter is over.

1st Tuesday of the month, the White Hart meets are a given.

3rd Tuesday of the month, shall we stick with the Plough?

And how about making it a sticky at the top of the forum so we just keep adding to the thread on who's likely to be coming rather than a new thread for each meet?

The White Hart is out for me, I'm not parking in a field, to then find a Transit van in the carpark.
It's too, "us and them".

Definately "us and them" in my limited experience too.
We only went once, both in kit cars, and were ushered into the rear parking area. Five minutes later the two spots we had been aiming for were occupied by two Caterhams, presumably friends of the organiser.
He's quite at liberty to do this of course, it's his car park after all but it doesn't make you feel welcome, especially as he then presumably expects you to line his pockets.
We won't go again.
We will come to the other meet when commitments allow, however.
Geoff.

Calm down Warren. You perhaps get a warmer welcome than we did.
Most people love the White Hart meets from what I can gather, but not everyone.
Perhaps we went on an extra busy night, I don't know.

Sorry Geoff, but there have been several comments across several threads in the Midlands forum that there is an air of apathy regarding meets just lately. Arrangements for meets have started with good intentions, and then just fizzled out with poor or no attendance at all. And although it's not my job to post up and coordinate them, I was only trying to redress things as we go into spring, and get onto a firmer footing.

I wish I hadn't bothered volunteering the post now, as the first two replies are just more of the same, negativity and apathy. I really am not going to bother any more. I will see people around as & when I see them.

It's not apathy on my behalf Warren. I've been somewhat occupied and unable to go anywhere. My wife has been in hospital for 14 months now, 6 months of that in intensive care on various levels of ventilation. It's a long story...
She is recovering, albeit slowly.
I won't get too many chances to go to meets and can't wait for the summer, assuming that we get one!
If I can get a pass out I would love to come to PH meets. I will bring our trackday Phoenix to one if possible.
I'm sure it's just that time of year at the moment. Things will pick up as the days get longer. Please don't chuck the towel in.

H4MUF, the westy owner is Eldon, my co-conspirator regarding the Phoenix.
Was the pic taken at Newark??

Geoff.

I don't intend to. I just don't see the point in me trying to get meets moving when I end up here from my OP. Someone else can bloody well do it if they have any better suggestions. This has narked me, my dummy is spat out and is well & truly staying on the floor.[/Drama Queen mode]

I think it's because the White Hart, is someone else's meet, we started going to.

The proper PH meets, whoever has organized them, have always been good.

So, in conclusion, the White Hart isn't anywhere near as popular as I thought it was. Attendance at The Plough is somewhat indifferent anyway, and no-one has any other suggestions, only criticism.

I don't see it as criticism. Nearly all the places we have meets, are 30 miles from me, so a 60 mile round trip in an evening, so I don't want to park in a field when I get there. I think I've been to my fair share of meets over the years, and the White Hart is the only place I've ever said I don't like. Most of the bi-monthly meets I've missed, have when I've been ill (no sympathy required).

I'm going in hospital tomorrow for another opp, so I won't be about for at least 4-6 weeks.

Ditto, happy to go to White Hart, Plough.

There are a few things that might be good to do over the coming months too.

I am happy to get another Scalextric night organised (and get beaten again! lol). I also think a night at the little cinema in Hockley watching Le Mans could be a fabulous night out (I have not seen it and I thought it might be cool to see it on the big screen).

Oh and talking of cinema, our village church has got hold of a sodding big projection screen, sound equipment and a licence to show films. They have a couple of films coming up that it might be interesting to go and see. Frost V Nixon and The Changeling. I will find out the dates and post. £2.50 on the door.

Plus watching films in a church is kind of cool. Home made cake and popcorn is available too!

The White Heart and Plough is fine by me. Youre never going to get every one being happy with a particular pub/location. It seems such a pub dosen't exist. Not in Derbyshire anyway. Starting a quest each year for the holy grail of pubs seems a bit fruitless.

I'm keen to start coming again - as to venue, will go with the flow provided you don't move even further away from me!

The White Hart, Classic car night 1st Tuesday of each month, Classic/Sports/Interesting cars park in the front car park, ordinary bread & butter cars around the back. Not a PH meet, just a good regular meet with car people, have a drink and maybe some food. BBQ and live music laid on outside in the summer. A really good meet, very busy in the summer, some really interesting cars turn up.

The Plough, 3rd Tuesday of each month, a PH meet, park wherever you want, kick around the car park, talk bks, look at each others cars, have a drink and maybe some food.
