Scam bidding website, would you bid?!

Costs $1 (in NZ) for each bid you place, which puts the price up by 2c. So the website is making $50 per $1 for the right to buy something cheap - what a complete scam - particularly when you realize that all the world sites have the same bidders pushing the price up and keeping the auction going.
Presumably if they don't get enough real bids they make sure they don't actually sell it to a real bidder - then they keep all the money.
Anybody stupid enough to use the buy now (yes! you get all your bid money back), is paying about twice the usual price by the look of things.
Presumably there are enough stupid people who can't work this out, seems much like poker machines.
