Ok,

One of our dogs "needs" to walk on the path. If he is let off lead, he will then head straight to the path and follow us along the path.

Does anyone else have a dog who doesn't like to go "off-roading"?

I've heard about this, I think. It involves pate and a quiet night in, right?

Does he avoid the cracks, in case the bears get him?

Do you keep his nails trimmed?
Yep. It's not a concrete footpath, it's just a more worn part of the fields as in the middle it has higher grass where the rabbits and deer graze (usually when are not there though!) and the dog walkers all mooch around the outside edge of the fields.

My akita goes around the house finding all the toys my mastiff has left around the place and tidies them all up onto the rug.

Sometimes she'll go and bark at the door so the mastiff goes to see what she's barking at, just to get whatever toy she was playing with off her and put it on the rug.

Is that all the time? And is it a bh? That can be a phantom pregnancy.... Or it could just be dominance....

Yes she's always done it. She's a rescue and had a litter. She treats the mastiff as a puppy even though shes bigger. It's not remotely aggressive or dominant....she's just excessively tidy smile

She doesn't do any other nesting thing (had a dog with a phantom pregnancy once)

Fair enough, we have a friend with a Golden who will tidy up all her toys (after playing with them) - she puts them in the basket thing they have for her. Funny bu***rs, dogs!

Now that's my kind of dog. One that tidies up after herself.

fking lol, especially the bit about tricking the other dog by randomly barking at the door, that's brilliant

Oh, I am sure she still tidies up the house. It's just now she owns it, not you............

My dog won't go to the toilet in our garden. So he has to go out for 3-5 walks a day to relieve himself. Really annoying.

Aside from that he's good as gold

Just had a thought. He might have had a traumatic event (like being attacked by a bigger dog or even a werewolf) when off the path.

We had a dog that preferred to avoid walking on wet grass, as she hated getting wet at all and even on dry days, didn't want to take the risk. She also got chased by a sheep once and regularly got bullied by the house cats.
