TV Licensing and change of names
Discussion
Hi,
just wondering if anyone has experience of this. I've been paying the license in my wifes name since forever. Now divorced she cancels the license and I call up to renew as it were. This was the start of March. Now they are charging me the full £142, so a years license but it only covers 5 months. £28 a month instead of the normal £12ish that it should be. Surely that can't be right?
I have emailed them on this twice and they haven't replied.

If the previous licence has been cancelled you will have to get a new one and pay full price for a 12 month licence which will run until next March. Your wife will have got a refund for the unused 5 months of the licence she cancelled so I guess you are entitled to half of that?

No, TV licensing like you to be in credit before they switch you to pay monthly so the first 6 months is buying you a years license, there onwards you are six months in credit. No idea why they decided this was the way to do things but it is.
Paying 28 pounds monthly at the moment. I think it's a cheek that you have to be 6 months in credit!Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
