Popped into Park Lane Mini on a visit to London last week and saw this.

Highly! Tons of carbon fibre stuff, including the roof, JCW Recaros, etc.
The car was actually a chilli red with an orange wrap...

£53k and you could park it anywhere for fear of it being stripped.

Its a nice looking mini but for that price what makes it reach that price bracket ?

Surely this value will drop like a bomb over the course of a year's ownership ?

How can Mini compete at that price when you buy a car like that Aston for less ?

Somebody with more money than sense will buy it- unfortunately thats part of mini's customer base- and they know it!

I went into Mini Shirley in the West Midlands the other day and they're offering carbon fibre wraps on cars- they wanted £900 to do just the roof!!!

Right. Basic Cooper S - £17,020
Aftermarket tuning to 220ish bhp incl warranty transfer - a grand or so.

That's £35K 'worth' of stuff which doesn't do anything for the car or the driving experience really... yikes

I agree to a certain extent but tuning to 220bhp a grand ? Really ? Can you inform us as I would like to know more about what you would buy and where (I'm not been funny by the way, just curious)
Cheers !

Be fairer to take the basic price for a JCW rather than an S, 22k-ish from memory.

Park Lane seem to be good at adding 20 grand to the cost of a car just because they've put a silly wrap on it.

But that's already a bit of a travesty if you ask me - electronic 'LSD' apart (can you still get a proper one for £250 on a Cooper S?)...

After fiddling around with the MINI site I struggled to break 30k for a JCW, so I can only assume that Park Lane are charging an extra 23k for black wheels, a garish orange wrap and some carbon JCW trim.

Think about that for a minute, twenty three grand, that's the cost of a second JCW and a few extras!

you cant get all the jcw carbon options through the config on the mini site so clearly every option has been added, although i am sure someone said this was total cost inc finance, so 41k ?

The price must be a mistake (no offence to the OP)

No - the price is right, I've seen a few in there in that price range.

I don't think the stuff on them in proper Mini gear, at a guess it's got a special paint job to start with. But I can't explain the other £20k though.

I work near Park Lane and have seen a few of their highly priced Minis. They have some with the most beautiful quilted leather seats and interior (looked like a friend's Bentley Mulliner although I can't comment on comparative quality) - and I have seen cars around the £40K mark where I can see how you could spend that money.

£53K is a bit of a mystery, but there are people for whom money is not an object who want a quality car for running around town in who will pay these prices and not blink an eye. Doesn't mean they are stupid, just that it doesn't matter to them.

If these kind of options are your thing - on the positive side you can pick up a second hand one at a huge discount on the original price.
