Im gonna be finishing Uni in a couple of months and job permitting I will be looking to move to either Leeds or Sheffield with a mate. Anyone know anywhere that's nice? We've decided that the most important thing is saftey, meaning we're rather live in a small place but in a nice area rather than a flashy pad in a area where the chances of been stabbed by smackhead is pretty high.

Close to or better yet in the city center is a must. For Leeds, my mate suggested Headingley which I'm told is a student area. Does anyone live or have any experince of the place good or bad?

Cheers.

You need Sheffield...

Leeds is a hole to be avoided, full of strange people, very strange people...

Unless you're a lawyer, in which case Leeds would suit you fine...hehe

Any reason why you think Leeds is a hole full of strange people. I been a few times and it looks pretty nice.

Looks nice sure, but when you're out and about and actually have to talk to these people..christ.

Always makes me regret leaving the "cul de sac" !

Hartlepool is even weirder , infact that's the most weird place I have ever been!

Where?
If you're looking at a city, the best areas are generally to the west or south west...

Unless there's a bigger city close by to the west....as in the town of Rotherham hehe

It follows that these areas are relatively free from chavs and crime.

If you want to know about any particular area to the west/SW of Sheffield, I've been here since the stone age, so just ask..

Edit...did I mention Leeds is st..?

Leeds seemed fine to me, plenty of young people etc, nice enough.

Why not just live in one of those new builds in town, they weren't expensive I didn't think.

Im from sheffield and live in a village called ecclesfield, decent local pubs, two large supermarkets near by, 2 minutes away from the m1 and 10 minutes from the city centre. If you want any more info feel free to pm me.

Have you got to live in either Sheffield or Leeds city? If so I'd go for Leeds. Better night life, better transport links and better class of female.
"Sheff" on the other hand will offer...Erm... ... Women from Rotherham. Take Leeds, trust me smile

If you can be in the area of Either then how about some of the areas around Huddersfield? Good road links to both cities.

You need a better class of mate. Headingly is a sthole.

Avoid Hyde Park, both the Sheffield one and the Leeds one.

What about either Woodhouse or Meersbrook in Sheffield?
Also avoid Chapeltown in both cities.

Yep originally from North but don't know Sheffield or Leeds in great detail. I will take a look at Ecclesfield and Herries Drive later on, as for Huddersfield, I'm already living and studying there laugh After 3 years it be nice for a change of scenery.

However staying in Huddersfield a bit longer could be an option although it wouldn't be my first choice. I know Leeds a little more than Sheffield which is making it more popular in my mind, however I've been to Sheffield recently and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, still not sure if I want to live there though. The two times I’ve been on a night out on Sheffield there has always been trouble although that could be just bad luck.

To the people that offered for me to PM them, thanks I take up that opportunity when I've done a bit more research. Right I'm off to bed. Goodnight everyone. sleep
