Electrical/Lighting question
Discussion
We are currently renovating our first home, looking at moving in June time, and we are getting to the stage where we are thinking about lighting.
We have decided on spots/down lights for the open plan kitchen and living room with approx 15 in total, (they will be used more than any other lights in the house). Now I have come across some LED bulbs which are used in my work which I am told are running at 4 watts, they look good and are certainly bright enough for our requirements, but are expensive at around £10 per bulb
Now the question is, how long would it take for these to pay for themselves? They are nearly 10 times the cost of normal halogen spots, Is it justified?
Thanks
Chris

There's some good info on here about LED GU10's, which is worth reading.
I'm not convinced the energy savings are that great for all of them, particularly given that some of them produce very little light. I bought some with (I think) 21 LED's in each bulb for a project. I tested them as complete bulbs and they really didn't put much light out at all. (I then dismantled them and used the component parts for something else, but that's by-the-by.)
Had I bought them to use as light bulbs I would have been very disappointed.
Oli.
