Clutch choice?

My car is going to have the gearbox reconditioned and I thought it would be wise to have the clutch replaced at the sametime, doesnt appear to be showing any signs of slipping but definitely some noise from the thrust bearing. I just have a standard 500 pre-serp and have no plans for major mods am just after a standard clutch. I cam accross one on ebay whilst browsing that seemed reasonable, from a firm called Techinclutch. Has anyone had any experience of these or could recommend anything else? Cheers

the usual response that I've seen to this type of question is to put "techniclutch" into google and look a the results, then buy a clutch from V8 developments. That's what I did.

Avoid techniclutch. They aren't up to the job in a 5 litre TVR. The rest of what I have to say can't be posted here, but I'm happy to email you a summary.

Buy from V8D or John Eales (and the like) and you'll get a good product made by a reputable company.

Had a look on google as advised and there does appear to be numerous horror stories from various motoring forums advising against them. Will look elsewhere I think, thanks for the advice.

Don't forget that the 5 litre clutch is not a standard Rover clutch, that's only for the 4.5 and 4.0 litre cars.
As above, speak to V8 Developments that's where I got mine from. Good price and just works.
Also worth replacing release bearing and maybe the fork if any wear is evident.

+1, just had to have a new techniclutch removed and a standard 500 installed as the former was slipping badly

Are there any other jobs worth doing at the same time, ie while the gearbox is out?
