Yes - have removed armourfend and yes used an old hairdryer to do it.
Quite a simple and therapeutic process. Once you get started you can tell whether you've heated it up sufficiently as it comes off with a relatively gentle continous pull. You can get quite large amounts off in one piece.
You might want to wear gloves though as it gets a bit hot on the fingers!
