I've gone and misplaced my Canon CD's for my 40D. frown

It seems as though I can't download it from Canon so does anyone have any idea where I can get the software from? Do Canon offer it through a download service or replacement software program on their website?

confused

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=M...

Unless you have a URL that I haven't found, all the downloads there are updates that require the full software installation from the original CD......

Since I didn't know what you're looking for it was a good guess - they used to include all the software.

What exactly are you looking for - DPP / EOS Utility ????

The whole package and Photo Professional. I actually find it quite a nice tool to use when browsing photos, plus of course the EOS Utility.

I find it a bit odd it can't be downloaded from Canon...

I don't think the Canon software is available online I'm afraid. As far as I am aware, the updates Canon release have always required an earlier version to be installed, or if not installed then to have the original disc physically present on the machine. I don't see why they don't put it there - unlike some manufacturers the software is bundled with the cameras anyway, so it's not like they'd be losing any revenue.

It would be rather great if somebody could oblige with the PC version please.... beer

I've tried installing the updates but as mentioned before, they require the full version which I simply can't find. I threw out a bundle of old software CD's some weeks ago and I think I might have chucked out the Canon CD's too.... frown

How big is it by any chance? If somebody could let me know what the ISO size is, I can create an FTP account to my server so it can be uploaded there.

Cheers,

BB

look above, your problem is solved

use notepad adn enter teh following

for 32 bit (XP, vista etc)

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\EOS Utility]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\DPP]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\PhotoStitch]

the bit between the lines, save as a file called canon.reg on desktop, ensure its a .reg file. Double click. Once done you can install. You can add extra keys as you require

I'm afraid that as previous posters have noted, only the updates can be downloaded from the canon site - you need the original disk as well.
