TVR Paint - Clear Coat Hair Line Cracks!!!

Hi
Anyone have hair line cracks is there paint clearcoat. I have one on the Left hand side of my Tuscan just above the light cluster about four inches long on the edge of the main body boot lip, can hardly see it but I know it's there!
Is this a common problem, if so anyone had them repaired only to find them redeveloping due to thier position.

Got some of those on the Chimaera, guess it may be where the fibreglass flexes? Like you, I know they are there but try not to let them worry me.

And yes, they were there before the respray and have appeared again.

I had some on the rear end of my Tuscan, fortunately my neighbour reversed his van into my car and I got them repaired on his insurance. It seemed to stem from the gel coat underneath the colour which meant that it had to be rubbed down to the fibreglass and repainted.

Better known as stress cracks, most Griffs have a star one on the N/S rear wing level with the axle line - it's where the roof fits in the boot and clouts the inside of the wing over bumps. Solution? get it ground out, refilled and extra glass at the back to reinforce. As the cars get older expect to find them where there are sharp changes of angle on cut-outs, round boot openings, round the headlamp pod openings on wedges etc.

Consolation? easier to deal with than tin worm.

Any such cracks have to be taken back to gelcoat and re-glassed over, tissued at a minimum. Filling without glassing over and they will just show back through again no matter how good the paintwork.
Repairing fibreglass is not difficult but is very labour intensive and you cannot cut corners.
