Track this weekend or even the Ring?

Hi, I was planning to do the Spatrack day this weekend with Bookatrack, but it was cancelled...
Does anyone know of any decent trackdays in the south of England?
Or even if the Ring is open to the public I could be tempted by a day trip....

If you could make it to Spa I'm sure you could struggle up to the grim north and have a play on the UKs own mini-Ring for our club day on Friday - CLICKY

Circuit is closed on Saturday 27th for a race.
It appears that it will be open on Sunday until 6:30.
Forecast is for cool, fairly damp weekend.

hmmm tempting, just not sure if, damp + ring + m3 is a good combination for my first visit...

It's not that bad, but you can assume nothing. After 20 laps, your understanding of the place will no more than 1% better than it was on your first lap.
If you can drive on the public road in the rain, which you obviously can, then you can deal with the 'ring, so long as you think of it as a public road.

bunch of us in the same boat as u - booked for SPA but cancelled due track collapse. we were going to the 'ring on sunday anyway after Spa, it's open all day on sunday. we are still going, but will probably spend saturday enjoying the roads in the eifel mountains near the 'ring and find a decent restaurant for a spot of lunch.

Chaps, may I just say that it's supposed to rain on Sunday, which combined with the rubber laid down on Saturday by the VLN guys will make Sunday morning very slippery so take it easy for the first few laps.

quite right we will and tnk u - seeing as u r a local, can u recommend a decent restaurant for lunch on saturday? doesn't have to be near the circuit, within 100 klicks or so.

Good point. It's supposed to be wet for the race as well, so perhaps less rubber accumulation than normal.

My own experience is that the best wet grip there is almost always off the racing line.
This applies to braking zones, near the apex, and in the acceleration zone as well.
In addition to the slipperiness of any rubber on rubber when it's wet, the other problem is that the rubber needs to deform and "bite" into the multitude of crevices in the road surface.
In the wet, the rubber stays cooler, thus it is less able to deform and momentarily fill those little crevices.
At the same time, the racing line will have had much more traffic across it, and that traffic will have worn away the sharp edges of the crevices.
Therefore, by staying off the line, you're on asphalt that has less rubber accumulation filling the crevices, less rubber to be super-slippery against the tyre rubber, and sharper edges for the tyre to bite into.
You may be amazed at how much grip is off-line at the same time as how little grip is on the line.

Well I'm at Cadwell with Trackaction-online so if any of you guy are going. Come over and say hi I'm there in my brothers R26R. Been on a number of Trackaction-online trackdays and they are very well run days and at a very good price. If you haven't been before it's one of the best tracks in the UK just like the ring apart from only being 2 miles long and still time to book

Well that depends what you're after really?

Traditional German would be the Comfy Corner in Adenau, a bit basic, but good food, friendly, and reasonably priced.

Or there's the Kaiser Garten chinese in Adenau.

Or Pinnochios, Guilias, or Aviano, in Adenau if you fancy Italian.

Or the buffet lunch in Hotel Tiergarten in Nürburg.

I could go on and on, there are loads of possibilities and I don't really know of a 'don't go there' place, to be honest.

Would recommend lunch at the above, I was there only last week and the lunch buffet was very good and reasonably priced.
