Chimera Lights Cutting OUt

I have a 1997 Chimera, as i am driving along, all the lights cut out and then back in again, this includes the dash lights, Has anyone got any ideas please

Try checking the lights switch wires first (jiggle them as you check them) also check the insulation on the wires for any sign of heat damage. if not then check back at fuse box - relays - earths etc

earths are a major problem on Tivs, as they do not use the body as with most cars and run an earth wire in alot of places.

BTW this would probably be better off moved to the TVR forum as they are a little specialist when it comes to the electrics as mentioned above.

Although I know nothing about Tivs specifically, I would agree that this is amlost certainly an earth problem. If it was a specific +ve connection problem, it would probably only affect one set of lights, not all of them.

Thanks for the input. I understand there could be an earth under the centre consol. How do I get to it? I a have checked the main earth, Replaced relays and checked the wiring as best I can ( Without pulling the whole lot out).

Switch / dash / lights all have different earth points - if they were all failing Im sure you would have other problems. Original answer seems most likely - connector to switch. On mine this is powered by the same circuit (ignition feed - green wire) as rest of dash - so speedo / gauges would die also if this is not powered.

There are three or four earths: one/two under the console, one under the rad, one on the chassis in the front wheel arch.

The rad one is a swine to get to as you may need to lift/remove the rad to get to it. The wheel arch one is esay. The console one requires the console to be lifted.

When this happened to me in an old Ford, it was down to a multi-connector under the dash.
TVR's are full of old Ford bits like indicators and light switches on the steering column, is this perhaps where the problem might be?
