Recommendations for thessalonika thassos area ?

I'm currently in southern Bulgaria, just an hour or so from Thessalonika, and fancy a couple of days in Greece. Has anyone got any recommendations for this area? We have a car, so are just looking for somewhere to spend a couple of days, and enjoy some scenery/good food.
I've never been to this part of Greece before, so know absolutely bugger all about it.

Around 8 or so years ago we stayed at a place called Golden beach on Thassos.
Not a lot going on there apart from as the name suggests a nice beach and several tavernas in the village center. It was quiet a nice place not commercialised probably not having an airport and having to get a ferry there helps.
