Gents, some help please.

I've got some new door seal for my 2004 Mk1. Purchased from 'Woolies' via a link in this forum.

My Question is - where is the start point to put the new one on? Can't seem to find a join or obvious break.

On the Chimaera, the seal clearly started at the top of the door aperture. On the Tuscan, it appears to be a single piece.
TIA.

Hi Nick any chance of the link?

Need to do my doors, roof and rear screen, all seen better days and are pretty squashed!

I started mine above the rear view mirror. The problem with starting by the door hinge is that I found water leaked in here and wet the carpets!

This is where I got my door trim from, you want 8 metres of the 266-BLK http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-37-side-seals.aspx

I had the same problem and ended up using a strip of rubber from an old bike inner tube to cover it. It's glued on and soft enough that it follows the shape of the door seal, effectively making it one piece.

hi guys

I want to start working my 2003 mk1 myself, but I am quite inexperiened (so far). I need to chance the door seals as well.

can you please tell me:

1. how is it fixed to the car? glued?
2. what kind of tool will I need?
3. is it the same seal for the boot?

I cannot check myself on the car these days as I am away.

thank you

No glue needed, it just pushes on or rather needs hitting with the palm of your hand or a rubber mallet. The boot seal is a different size, not sure what though.

I've replaced the seals on my Tuscan, with mixed success. The seals, being new and not floppy like the old ones (!), make it hard to fit the roof panel. It's a real squeeze to refit the roof panel along the front (windscreen) edge, and the roof now sits quite proud at the back edge (above your head). I've not yet adjusted the catches, but i'm not sure that will help much.

Any suggestions?

my roof is still tight to put on six months after having the seals replaced, it also sits up at the back edge but can't remember if it did before. Hoping the seal will settle...........................eventually rolleyes
