Sounds like the hot start issue do a search on here loads of info on it. Quite commen mine developed it last year in italy but had a spare relay to get me by. should replace the wiring and improve the earthing.

I've been getting the same problem for a while despite a new starter motor last year. Just received the Modwise hot start kit which is going to be fitted over the weekend. Fingers crossed that it will be the answer.

A brief description of the issue is when the cables that carry the current to the starter get hot the resistance increases and the power finds a better route which is ground, the cables through time break down and IMHO are a little light for the job in hand to begin with , All the Mod with the relay does is tap in to the loom and switch the lost power back to the starter to allow it to start when hot bit of a cheat really, but gets most of us by wink

Hope this helps Scotty

My new toy suffers from this issue on a hit and miss basis. Sometimes is doesn't start for 10 mins or so when hot and other times it turns over VERY slowly and then catches fine.

It is booked into Leven this Saturday to complete the wiring fix and install a new battery as well. A bit belt and braces but I don't want to be caught out with a hot start failure without access to a pub, restaurant etc to hand biggrin

No need to shout eek check the 2 small connectors in the loom that run parallel to the crankcase breather hose at the front of the engine left to right as here if these are dirty then the ECU gets no pulse from the ignition system(no pulse no injection)it may be a long shot but this happened to my Chim a couple of years ago when i went shopping with my daugter to come beck to my car 20 minutes later and it was injecting no fuel i pulled those connectors apart(spade connectors)and one was green corroded gave a clean and its never done it since,i will add the car had just come out of hibernation, may be a long shot but its woth a try wink

That would affect the tacho as well, you should be able to see the tacho at least just flicker.

Had hot start kit fitted on mine then about 3 years later the immobiliser started playing up.

I was told that hot starting issues can be an early indication of Immobiliser problems. A hot start kit works for a while and is a good thing to have, however it could be the immobiliser is on the way out. That is what I was told by Carl Baker.

Sorry to resurect this but (without giving security information away) is the immoboliser in the engine bay where it can suffer from heat soak like the starter or is it inside the car?
Thanks, Matt
