Engine up-grade for Proton Jumbuck
Discussion
My 1.5L Proton Jumbuck is feeling a little slow these days and I was wondering how much work it would be to fit a larger engine. It has a 4G15 engine (old Mitsubishi Colt).
I believe the Proton Compact had a 4G93 DOHC 16 Valve in the range, with 129 bhp and a turbo version of that engine is available with 204phb (according to Wikipedia).
This is one case where just buying a faster car is not an option, because the pickup is used to transport hay and water to horses up a very narrow lane.

If I go up the lane to fast the hedge branches will smash the windscreen. I just noticed the other day, whilst going up Lindale Hill (A590 need Lindale), I needed to use 3rd. If I get change this weekend I'll check the compression, it did belch some black smoke last time I took it up to the red line.
Protons started as mitsubishi's, In Malaysia engine swaps are very common, as I understand it Mit's engine fit straight in, there are loads of cars on the street here with Evo engines in them, some better than otheres, my mechanic has just built a great 4 wheel drive Proton Satria stage car,(Old Pugout 306) with a Evo 5 four wheel drive system, Hav a alook on any of the Malysian forums, zeroonehundred is one I've looked at befor.
