i'm sort of new-ish to this site, but am extremely excited by the impending delivery of my c4s and feel the need to let everyone know. after several days suffering at the hands of incompetent banks who are sorting out my finance, i am picking up said toy on monday. this is my second 996, and getting it this time is EVEN MORE exciting than picking up my first one as i know what to expect... can't wait. can anyone tell me of some good tracks / airfields i can burn rubber on in the bucks / berks area???

craigw organises bruntingthorpe days - one in March, soonish

Otherwise book it on a track or airfield day (see www.bookatrack.com etc) or speak to 1st Lotus, Don Palmer etc. about driver training days (lots of tarmac to play with and someone to teach you).

Have fun!

...congratulations! What finance deal did you end up going for (who with)? I remember a thread from a while back in which you were investigating options.

Excellent. Having run a 996 before it'll be interesting to hear your opinions on the differences between your original 996 and the new one with the turbo brakes and suspension.

in response to argonaut:
you are clearly an elephant with a memory like that! ended up just tagging it to my mortgage. cheapest way to borrow money - no deposit, no ballon, repayments are £297 per month. easy. should have done this with all my cars.

in response to daz: took the c4s for an extensive drive courtesy of our friends at afn reading. can't tell the difference between the brakes of the c4 and c4s. the c4s just looks the muts nuts. would have got a turbo but the wife ruled it out on the grounds of being too fast.

spec: arctic silver; black leather sports seats (crested); carbon fibre gear (manual - none of this titnonsense) and handbrake. sunroof. possible purchase of baby seat due to impending arrival mid may.

can't wait

Ah, you were clearly unprepared. Next time you hear such lentlist rantings counterargue that the extra performance allows for safer overtaking. Nothing to do with sheer banzai hoonage when the roads are empty. Oh absolutely not........
