The only two points that spring to mind are:
Check that it has had the all important 1200 mile running in service - walk away if not.
Check (if you can) that the rear of the car seems to sit level - there have been instances of cracked rear springs, although I'm not sure how much difference to ride height this would actually make.

and give the gearbox a good going over, let it warm up... it will be a little notchy, thats fine, but if you're struggling badly it could need work.... gearbox's failing are not unheard of....
removing the CDV helps the jerky gearchange.....
If you can, get one with BWM warranty on it... good piece of mind...

The most critcial point.
helps to check the rest of the servicing has been done too - but the running in is the most important!
