Out of interest when you do a backup, what is backed up everything, apps, data, music, info, settings, O/S & boot loader or just the apps, data, music, info & settings?
Obviously the OS restored by restoring the phone so that is unlikely to be on a back-up but all your settings, apps, call info, pictures, etc is included.
I had to have my iPhone replaced and I restored my previous back-up onto the new one and everything was just how it was.
