I have just sold a PS3 on ebay and the person who bought it literally an hour ago wants me to send it special next day delivery, however because a PS3 weighs about 4KG it will cost 21 quid, I originally said 14 quid for delivery (the maximum eBay allows) for 1st class recorded,

could this guy take his money back from my paypal????? surely he entered into a contract with me in which it was a condition that it would be sent 1st class recorded......

Ask the guy to Paypal you the extra cost. If he refuses, send it 1st class recorded. Keep the proof of posting.

So why didn't he ask you about delivery before submitting a bid?

I know, I have asked him about the extra cost but its been about 30 minutes since I sent him the message and the post office is gonna close shortly, i'm just worried that it gets to 5 o clock i send it 1st class recorded and he somehow gets his money back from paypal then im left without a PS3 or any money.

Or am I just being paranoid?????

He can raise a dispute with Paypal and try and claim his money back. As long as you have the proof of posting you should be fine though.

If you send it the more expensive way I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for any money from him...

You specified your delivery terms: £14.99 1st class.

If he wants anything else other than this then that is for him to pay for. You can get a proof of postage on anything 1st class. Although value wise it may not cover the ps3.

Have a look at discount couriers online as £15 should get it sent through them.

Hmmm you do realise that if you just send it first class recorded then it's only insured upto £39? If the posties manage to break it, that's the most that you will be able to claim from Royal Fail.

If it gets broken it is upto him to claim is it not?????

He knows that it is first class recorded and therefore only insured for 39 pounds so he takes the risk?????

Correct me if i'm mistaken??????

I don't think paypal will see it that way when they give him his money back.

As a seller, it is your responsibility to get it to him, in the same condition as it is described, so if it fails to arrive, arrives smashed etc, then you have to refund him the full amount paid, and then you claim from RM (as it is you that has the 'contract' with them) and all you will get is 100 first class stamps.

It may be worth you paying the extra for your own protection and piece of mind

I wouldn't sell a PS1 on ebay, let alone a PS3. I'm sorry but I'd be constantly waiting for that automated Paypal email to arrive...

This is a major problem on Ebay.. the amount of times i have purchase bits and bobs that have turned up damaged.. now whether it was damaged in the post or the seller was full of st, it is still your responsibility as a seller.. Make sure it is insured for the proper amount!

I thought that but have sold 2 PS3's on there and both were bought by people that lived close enough to turn up and pay cash.
