Flashing up DSC service required and that the traction control is off. Whats that mean?

It means that the stability control system needs a service and that traction control is off smile

Likely to be an ABS sensor or something around that area IME. Not an expensive fix (if the car's under warranty it'll be free).

I drove mine around like this for a while. Car's very neutral even without the electrickery so not to be scared of (if you're used to driving RWD cars etc). But worth getting it fixed.

two common faults that cause this issue, one is the brake pressure transducer fits in the bottom of the master cylinder, and the second is a broken wire at the nsf abs sensor which can be repaired, A code read would be required to find out exactly though, To check if it is the second problem that is at fault jack up the vehicle on the nearside looking from the front behind the wheel, follow the wire that is attached to the upper suspension arm and where it meets the connector that is where the wire breaks, this can be either soldered or the terminal replaced both methods work perfectly, the first one really does need the correct equipment as a dsc calibration should be carried out if this is replaced, there are possible other faults but nearly all the cars we see it is one of these two problems,

Thanks for the chat today Rick, will get the lads to stick it on the ramp tomorrow and see if it's just the connections. I'll call you monday either way, Cheers mate.

Just had a message flash up saying ABS/DSC service required, followed by a rotating essage about Emergency Brake Assist off and Traction control Temporarily disabled. Have read this thread and will look at the two points raised. Read elsewhere (AMOC Forum) that it could be a pressure sensor failure, anyone have any more up dated info on this.

It does seem to come and go, I hoped the light would stay off, but now it comes on all the time. The (ABS) light , lights up, and stays on for about 30 seconds, then they all go out, then about 3 - 4 minutes later, I get all the disco lights come up on the dash.

Any help would be appreciated .... smile

I had something not dissimilar, turned out to be a sensor in a wheel bearing in my case. Think it was a volvo part.

Actually, thats what I thought ..... frown

I thought that my ABS had more use in a week than most get in a year (or more)

Thinking about changing all four sensors in the wheels, I took the wheels off and checked all the sensors, taking them apart and then back to together again, but still a problem, this thread said about the NSF wire breaking, I'll check that again.

When mine had it's contretemps, there were no major lights lighting up.

Personally I'd pop it down to a dealer and get them to take a look. They should be able to diagnose it quickly.

Or perhaps get an OBDII reader to try and help isolate the fault. It could be a few things that might not be obviously visible.

I just ordered some ABS sensors from AM, they were only £20.75 each, minus 10%, plus vat with free PP. Thought for about £90.00 I would give them a go, they arrive Thursday. Perhaps I should get it diagnosied first, but for £90.00 I thought it worth a punt ...... tongue out

Just got hold of these DB9 ABS Sensors today, they are tiny pieces of plastic and I'm wondering what I paid for, do they send out some sort of signal ...? Or do they vibrate ...? What ...?

They are a hall effect sensor - or a magnet with two wires attached in a bit of plastic

So how do they fail / break then ? If there are no moving parts?

I got the DSC amber light and then the red emergency brake assist on my last trip before I put the car to bed for the winter ! After restarting the emergency brake assist disappeared, although DSC fault remains.
My Vantage is due to come out of hibernation soon and I have a two hour journey for dealer to have a look, I am concerned if the RED emergency brake assist reappears whilst driving should I pull over or is it ok for a drive up to the dealer, Any one in the know regards this fault. Dealer says don't drive on any red fault, however it has gone for now?????? will it reappear enroute ??????????????????????

They seem to be related warning lights Yaegar - I had the exact same symptoms - no idea if the light came back on during the drive to the Dealer as the Dealer collected.

I should imagine the correct procedure would be to pull over, restart and hope it goes out again smile

Yaeger - driving in the rain with no Traction Control makes you focus on your driving eek

I guess the official position is stop and recover car, when I was a kid I drove for 20 odd years without Traction Control and ABS, I remember being taught to pump the brake when skidding in rain, then they introduced something called ABS which made the car shake when it came on .......

Did these fix the problem?
