Any motor clubs do Auto-solos?
Discussion
Looks like good fun Simon
Put me down for it as well
I used to do autotests in the 80's in anything from a 1340cc Mini to a Peugeot 605SRi and loved it.
This looks even more fun as you don't have to crick your neck going backwards (important at my age now)
It would also suit the TVR (subject to noise) or even my S type Jag Auto!!!!!!
The only thing that was more fun was grass autotests (where there was no reverse sections)
Having googled Autosolos to see what it was I got Darlington Motor Club coming up
so I would try them first. Also Knutsford MC as another and also try Ilkley & District MC
which I was in in the 80's as that is the sort of thing they may have moved onto.
HTH
Let me know!!!!

Brill, thanks for that. It does look fun, more like a cross between the the American style Autocross, and sprinting. The whole reversing/handbrake turn thing puts me off regular autotesting a bit.
I've also found that theres a club in Hartlepool that does them up there, theres one on this Sunday.
I'll look into those names.

Wakefield Motor Club runs grass autotests which are quite autosolo ish. A limited amount of reversing keeps it within the autotest regs but we try to run them as flowingly as possible. Usually in Denby Dale on Wednesday evenings. May 19th being the first of the summer.
The field we use is a bit bumpy and has usually been occupied by cows at some time previously so not perfect for P and J's but we do usually have a couple of seats spare in one of the shared (arrive and drive) cars if you fancy a run.

 I'll look into that.

Been looking into this, mailing loads of motorclubs etc. - it seems there are a few starting to crop up nearby. Hartlepool run a few over the year, and the NW region seems to be cottoning onto them.
There is an autosolo run by the CSMA at Lymm services on the M6 - this Sunday the 23rd. I'm thinking about going over to watch/help out.
But I've just had this through - who's up for it?
Does anyone fancy it?

Hmm, looks very interesting!
I think I'll pop along to this as it's on my way home from work.
Are you going to have a go Simon? Do you have to register with one of the clubs or can we enter as individuals?
Found out my king lead wasnt really one continuous piece of cable when I was fiddling the other night, which will hopefully fix the running issue I've had. If so, I'll enter if I can or even just pop down in the MR2 to see what it's like.
Cheers,
Tom

I may well be heading across there next week, but am not sure i will get there in time to compete. You will need to be a member of one of the invited clubs, I would suggest Huddersfield Motorclub but I am biased as I am on the commitee! It is only £10 for our membership.
The other thing you can do is buy a snotter and do some club autotesting, I was out last night competeing about 1/2 mile from the Galpharm, Huddersfield MC run some clubsport events at Naylor-Myers concrete yard off Leeds road, open to all club members and to some other clubs in w.yorks, only costs £7 to enter.

I have never seen any noise limits at an autosolo/autotest so you should be safe, are you planning to bring the wedge along? If so i will have to come have a chat with you as I would love to get one at some point.

If you are local then come to The Piece Hall in Halifax and say hello
We have 115+ TVRs signed up to be there this Sunday from 10am - 4pm
Simon - I went to an Ilkley and District MC meet last night (haven't been for 25 years!!!)
and had a great time again watching them do a Production Car Trial.
I also got onto discussing Auto solos with some of my old friends there and they refer to them as forward autotests.
They have one in about a months time (ON GRASS!!!!) near Otley.
I am going to suss out the field to see if I can do it in the Wedge or alternatively the S Type Jag Auto

Will report back on Tuesday at the Galpharm
Dave - S Type Jag Auto Vs Ford Tranny? Sounds like fun
Cheers
Trickie
Can discuss more on Tuesday
Cheers
Richard
