New front suspension bushes!

Apparently there's some 'play' in the lower suspension, and the upper is so bad that it might fail it's MoT.

£140k car
Four years old
7000 miles

Needs new suspension components confused

Now, I have the mechanical knowledge of a mouse, but I'm stunned that components like this should need replacing on such an otherwise immaculate car. The dealer tells me it's not uncommon, and it all depends on how it's been driven.

Anyone else have experience of this before I call Ferrari UK?

If a car has sat for long periods of time, depending on the conditions it is sat in rubber and the likes can perish pretty damn quickly.

I guess it is possible.

Similarily if the car has been used for 7k, and 5k of that was around silverstone. Bits will have worn at a quicker rate.

Not uncommon. I have a strad and have had the balls joints replaced twice (at the front) & shock bolts (minor thing) - just general wear & tear. What specifically are you referring to?

I had mine done, luckily under warranty. Also have been told this is a common thing.

Out of interest can I ask how much they have quoted to put this right. I will no doubt end up with a 430 before to long and I'd be intrested to know.

Cheers

One would think that they would have rectifyed this silly front balljoint and bush problem on the F430. Especialy after the vast numbers of 360s that sufferd from it in the first place.

Of course, I'd forgotten the fact that it has extended warranty.

They fixed it all for free smile

Surely that included a service, I'm sure they cost less than £500 on a 360 at an independant.

Hi guys, mine is not even 3 years old, done 5k miles and the rear near side wheel is too loose for the wheels to be aligned! The alignment guys say it needs a new track control arm so I'm off to the dealer! Anyone had a similar situation/ problem?

Just had my 360 done under warranty but it does sound like ball joints to me for that price. Quite handily, Ferrari now only supply wishbones and ball joints as one unit thus making any factory work about 4 times more expensive than just the ball joints by themselves. If you go to Hill engineering they supply stainless steel ball joints that last much longer and are only £115 ea.
