Do you have relatives you despise, if so, why?
Discussion
With me it would be my sister. My best friend when we were growing up, in her teens she started to go a bit off, then she had the good fortune to marry a rich bloke. After that is was "why's everybody after my money?" and she kept well away from anyone, even in her own family, who she knew was a bit 'short'.
I don't mind her being rich, I know it hasn't brought her any happiness, but it's a shame that, in her case, money has turned her into a complete a
hole.
Funnily enough, my father's sister was just the same, married a rich bloke, thought it was all her own doing, became very detached from the rest of the family, was involved in some amazing acts of selfishness. As a child I didn't know why one of my aunts was referred to as AuntieFreeze but realised later.
Anyway, enough of my family, anyone else have any relatives they would like to tell us about?

Marrying into money turns alot of women into pricks sadly. Considerably better than yaou and all that, even when yaou is the hand that once fed them. Sad.
The only relative I bear bad feeling towards is one of my uncles after a passing comment he made about me carrying a little bit of weight when I was a kid, purely because he is a waster prick with a big mouth and a drink problem. I've always bit my tongue but my mum is perfectly aware of the fact that I would probably throw him through a brick wall if I ever saw him again. I believe he has also been advised of this. Luckily he resides on the other side of the country. I don't despise him at all, I just pity him.

My Uncle!
Had a good job working in Africa, Middle East and Far East earning a mint.
Pissed it all up the wall and ended up retiring to Oz. Through his life he earned and spent a great deal of money, then ended up sending begging letters to my father, even during his last couple of months of life.
Selfish twunt!

My brother
Earns really good money at Walkers crisps as a manager, then pleads poverty to our folks and needs a helping hand. They are to blind to see that he goes out on the piss three nights a week, goes to the gym 3 nights a week, goes away in b&b's every other weekend and can afford to run a shogun, and still my folks claim he hasnt got much money.
I dont mind the fact that he is doing it, or that they believe him, but i do get annoyed when they make out that mrs slopes and i earn more together than he does. Hello mum, he earns 40k a year, when mrs slopes and i had a joint income it was 26k, how the f
k is that more.
Okay i lied, it does annoy me that he gets away with it, just as much as it annoys me they believe him

My father.
When I was young we were supposed to emigrate to the US. My older sister and I had said goodbye to all our friends and extended family awaiting the flights after the house had been sold and all our possesions were in packing cases to go America.
A day or so before our departure we are at our gran's house saying our goodbyes and having lunch when a call from my mother (who had deposited us there earlier) comes through saying that my father has gone.
To cut a long story short he had:
Left us with no home to live in
Taken all the money from the hiouse (which was now paying for the house in the US
Taken all the family savings - not a huge amonut but my mom was not a working mom and had no money as her role was to bring up the family
Basically left us with nothing
My folks (my mother, aunt and grandmother) have done a fantastic job of bringing my sister and I up and on the few occasions I have met my father since (5 times in nearly 20 years) I make sure he realises he had no part to play in the sucesses that we have become.

You still dignify your dad with acknowledgement that he exists after that? When I was young we were supposed to emigrate to the US. My uncle who tried to burn the house down with my cousins asleep in it - oh, no. He fell down the stairs when drunk and had a heart attack. Nevermind
Oh, on the other side of the family, my dad's sister's ex-husband for being a kiddy fiddler

My sister, over the years, has grown closer. Not close, but closer. I treat him like an outsider and yet he speaks to my folks on a weekly basis whihc I find odd.
Recently he had the audacity ot say that the kids (my sis and I) would have been better if he'd taken us with him - when I heard this my immediate reaction was "Mom, <sis name> was the most successful person at her university, she's gone on to do X, Y and Z. I am very good at my career, regarded in some companies as the best there is at what I do in the world. I am highly regarding uin my sporting field. We help and look after you guys when and however we can. We are who we are because of the people you moulded us to be. What could he have done better than you?"
BTW my folks have never bad mouthed my father in front of me - they wanted me to form my own opinion. Likewise I am requested by my sis to not bad mouth him infront of my niece and nephew.
She cried at that point.

Jeez and I thought my old man was a twunt. Well, he is, but yours is worse. I think you are right, missing out is the best punishment, I can't say he missed out on much with me perhaps but my kids are great and he doesn't even know they are born. Literally. Fred Burroughs, where ever you are (and you may be dead for all I know) it was all your loss mate. Apart from when I was going through the 80s glam metal Motley Crue phase and probably best you missed that tbh, i wish I'd missed that. Dear God I had a lot of hair, dear god its all gone When I was young we were supposed to emigrate to the US.
