i know it's not really a p/h type car but I recently inherited (from a deceased relative) a Sep 2003 Imprezza 2 ltr auto (non turbo obviuosly). Just wondered if anyone had any experience of this engine /transmission combination. To me it feels increbibly slow, underpowered and badly geared, it only has 4 gears and they all appear to be the wrong ratio, kickdown takes an age, a huge roar comes from the engine but nothing happens until after 5000 RPM, then it accelarates like a large building, it is also horendously uneconomical returning 23-25 MPG over the last month.

Any dealers out there know what its worth as a trade in ? (2700 miles)

I've got a 2001 Legacy 2.0 with an auto (so I think it is the same combo). It is a bit lethargic, and the change downs are quite violent on full throttle. I got the car specifically for sitting in traffic jams during my commute - so I can't grumble if it isn't the smoothest or fastest of motors.

Funny combo, good brakes, superb steering, great handling & balance & and a bit of a weedy engine! Still a good car though (and it was dirt cheap to buy)
