Targas in the 70's and 80's had a lift off roof between the windscreen edge and the roll bar.
In in 96 they bought out a Targa 993 which was different. It had a fixed roof but made of glass, which slides down over the rear window to give a huge great hole !
This design has been continued with the current 996. Check out the Porsche website.
